Careers with Portsmouth Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services (PFRES) are particularly physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. In serving our community, we are active participants in what is often the worst times of our neighbors’ lives. Over time, this can take a toll on the Firefighters, Paramedics, and EMTs of the PFRES family.
First Responders often place themselves at risk to protect life, property, and the environment. PFRES addresses three areas of alarm to minimize short term and long term hazards for our Firefighters, Paramedics, and EMTs. PFRES provides resources to ensure our members are equipped to:
Hone Physical Fitness
Cultivate Mental Health
Resist Occupational Cancer
Portsmouth Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services understands the sacrifices our First Responders make with their service. In appreciation, our department takes a proactive approach to provide our members with resources to stay healthy throughout their careers and beyond.
